This deceptively small and stylish camera packs in some great features, including a high-tech sensor for great shots in low lighting.
The Cyber-shot DSC-WX1 packs 10.2-megapixels and has a 5x optical zoom. Interestingly it has the Sony G Lens and this is the same lens that is used in the top of the line DSLR cameras as well as advanced pro-sumer HD camcorders.
It has a cool feature called Handheld Twilight Mode, which basically allows you to captures six images in a fraction of a second with one shutter press and then combines the data from all the images to produce one super detail and clear finished product. This way images can be captured better in low light conditions.
Intelligent Scene Recognition (iSCN) Mode is also a great addition: it automatically detects eight different types of scenes and in 1/30th of a second, your camera has picked the right settings from Backlight, Backlight Portrait, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Twilight using a tripod, Portrait, Landscape, and Macro.
There are two iSCN modes: Auto and Advanced, and with Auto your camera will simply snap a single shot using optimal settings whereas Advanced Mode immediately takes a second photo in low light settings and lets you choose which to keep.
It is also interesting to note that the DSC-WX1 is an ideal camera for crazy cat ladies. I jest! But it does have Pet Mode, which minimizes blur when shooting moving pets and automatically turns off the flash to reduce glowing pet eyes. AF illumination is also disabled so that you don't blind your cat causing the picture captured to be one of surprise and startled anger.
It works with Sony's IPT-DS1 Party-shot docking station accessory, which automatically tracks faces, detects smiles adjusts composition and takes photos for you.
