Woo hoo! Homer comes to TomTom
17.06.2009

Homer Simpson is not just a supervising technician at the Springfield nuclear power plant; his other jobs, including astronaut, travelling salesman, snow-plough driver and monorail conductor, all involve having a good sense of direction, so you'll be pleased to know that the soothing voice of Homer is coming to the TomTom.
Satnav manufacturer TomTom has joined with Locutio Voice Technologies and Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising to bring you the real voice of Homer Simpson, provided by Dan Castellanetta himself.
The cool thing about having turn-by-turn navigation voiced by Homer is that you're not just going to get ordinary directions, they will be peppered with his occasional words of wisdom and random observational outburst such as: "Take the third right. We might find an ice-cream truck! Mmm...ice cream."
Why Homer? "He has has one of the most identifiable voices in entertainment history," said Elie Dekel, Fox executive vice-president for licensing and merchandising.
"We have joined forces with TomTom to help celebrate The Simpsons historic 20th anniversary and will help provide a little levity for those long summer road trips ahead."
Plus, Homer has the honour of being one of the few fictional characters with a phrase in the dictionary: 'D'oh' made it into the Oxford English Dictionary in June 2001!
You can download Homer's voice immediately for you aural and driving pleasure for €9.95 from www.tomtom.com/simpsons.
