Call of Duty to get Dead Space treatment
03.03.2010

With six major games under its belt and another Vietnam-based one tipped for later this year, the Call of Duty games franchise is doing well and parent company Activision has decided to created a dedicated business unit especially for this brand while extending into the new territory of action adventure.
Call of Duty is embracing action adventure like Dead Space
The new business unit will see a focus on high-margin digital online content as well as pushing the Call of Duty franchise into new regions and new genres, not just action adventure.
Activision says that the newly formed Sledgehammer Games is in development on an action-adventure style Call of Duty game headed by industry veterans Glen A Schofield and Michael Condrey of Dead Space fame.
Map packs for Modern Warfare 2 coming soon
The company will also be releasing a new Call of Duty game from Treyarch this autumn while Infinity Ward is working on the first two downloadable map packs for Modern Warfare 2 for release sometime later this year.
"(The year) 2010 will be another important year for the Call of Duty franchise," said Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing.
"In addition to continued catalogue sales, new downloadable content from Infinity Ward and a new Call of Duty release, we are excited about the opportunity to bring the franchise to new geographies, genres and players."
