Pop Idol creator makes online Truman Show
01.03.2010

Simon Fuller, the guy behind Pop Idol, has a dream: a 24/7 reality show just like the Truman Show where social networking tools will allow the viewer to become the ultimate voyeur.
Beyond reality TV
If I Can Dream will not just have weekly episodes that will be shown on video service Hulu.com: it will also have a constant live video stream on the website plus real-time audience interaction via Twitter, blogs and MySpace.
With auditions for the reality show carried out via MySpace, the public will not only get to decide who goes and who stays but also have a chance to join them in their pursuit of fame as well as interacting with them through Facebook, Flickr, Twitter and YouTube and watch them constantly in the next step towards 'realtertainment'.
Fuller is using social media as part of the entertainment experience
"I am determined to continue pushing the boundaries of mainstream entertainment," Fuller told the Guardian.
"The next frontier is the video world of authentic real-time interaction. It is time the public got to see the truth behind what it takes to launch the careers of young artists."
