Canon adds to SLR range with EOS 550D
24.02.2010

Canon has introduced a slew of new digital cameras to the Irish market, including the EOS 550D, its 18-megapixel 'prosumer' digital SLR camera with a compact, lightweight body and the ability to shoot full HD movies.
With the EOS 550D retailing at €899 RRP (including VAT), it will go on sale 24 February. Meanwhile, three new IXUS cameras and a PowerShot will also go on sale from early March.
Canon's new PowerShot SX210 IS brings a wide-angle 14x zoom lens
The PowerShot is a 14.1-megapixel model with a wide-angle 14x zoom lens and DIGIC 4 processing, but it is certainly no monster in terms of looks: coming in bronze, metallic grey and pink, this digital compact is powerful but slim and lightweight and retails at €399 RRP (including VAT).
A bright new range of IXUS models
The IXUS 210, 130 and 105 are also out in the shops soon and they retail at €389, €309 and €219 respectively.
The 210 comes in black, gold, silver and pink, has a 24mm lens plus 14.1 megapixels and a brand new user interface for hints and tips so that the casual user can get the best from their digital camera.
The IXUS 130 is teensy weensy, the slimmest IXUS model on the market to date: it measures 17.8mm at its thickest point, plus it also boasts 14.1-megapixel resolution.
If you're into quick and easy point and shooters, the IXUS 105, which comes in silver, brown, pink and aqua, is a cutesy digital compact with a 2.7-inch PureColor LCD screen and it can shoot VGA movies to boot.
