Sony gets sexy with waterproof Cyber-shot
19.02.2010

The TX5 earns pride of place as Sony's first-ever waterproof Cyber-shot camera, and it's also dust-proof, shock-proof and freeze-proof!
The TX5 - at 17.7mm thick, it's the world's thinnest and smallest waterproof digital still camera and one of the most interesting features is the adjustable pressure on the 3-inch touchscreen.
So whether you're scuba diving or wearing thick ski gloves, you can make sure that you capture "the decisive moment", as Henri Cartier-Bresson described that fraction of a second where the machine and the human eye synchronise to create art.
The specs
This little Cyber-shot is freeze-proof down to -10C and can be dropped from a height of 1.5 metres and still survive the impact while surviving submerging in water down to 3 metres.
As tough as it is on the outside, it is also packed with some serious technology on the inside: it is a 10.2-megapixel camera with Sony's Exmor R CMOS Sensor for less noise in low-light conditions and the Carl Zeiss lens has a 4x optical zoom plus 25-mm wide angle.
It also has the one-button Intelligent Sweep Panorama function that captures a sweeping panoramic scene by simply moving the camera across the landscape as it automatically captures a series of images and stitches them together to create one.
