App Store gets another US$1,000 app
18.01.2010

Who can forget the 2008 'I Am Rich' iPhone app that was the mobile equivalent of 'The Rich Man' from Harry Enfield and Chums? Costing US$1,000 (€799.99) it was quite rare, but for people with more money than sense.
The second iPhone application to arrive in the App Store with the same price tag is not so useless: the BarMax CA app certainly is draining to the wallet but it is a meaty 1GB app for students taking the California bar exam.
BarMax CA was developed by law graduate Mike Ghaffary and is basically 50lbs worth of law textbooks compressed into one application, with audio lectures, 1,371 real practise MBE questions and is approved by professionals, including a Harvard Law School-graduated federal prosecutor.
Not much use for anyone wishing to qualify outside of California, but an indication of future educational apps to come.
