Top gadgets for the filthy rich

What do people with more money than sense (or taste) buy when it comes to gadgets? Why, all manner of items dipped in gold and rolled in crystals of course! If you thought the infamous gold-plated, diamond-encrusted Nintendo Wii was an anomaly, then set your phasers to stunned!

1. Crystal PRO700 headphones

You may have heard of CrystalRoc, the company that makes custom crystal-encrusted microphones for pop stars including Kylie Minogue, Rihanna and Katy Perry.

They also embed crystals in lots of others gadgets and the Crystal PRO700 headphones are so expensive that they don't come with a price tag - it is available upon request.

Apparently, they are the first-ever commercially sold crystallised headphones and the sound quality is bound to be top notch to boot, as the technology is by Audio Technica.

Finally, an iPhone that screams: 'I am considerably rich than you'

2. iPhone 3Gs Python Spumante edition

What's better than a gold-plated iPhone 3Gs? An 18-carat rose gold plated one with python skin backing apparently, and it's also unlocked and SIM-free.

Goldstriker International sell a range of python-skin iPhones, but this metallic bronze-coloured one has got to be the most decadent.

It will set you back a mere £1,695 or €1,911.

3. Nespresso Crystal Edition coffee machine

How much do you love your coffee? Enough to buy a Nespresso machine covered in a whopping 3,100 Swarovski crystals? Good, then that will be £1,995, please.

Well, it does make great espressos, macchiatos and lungos ... and it has an aluminium cup warmer.

Cha-ching, bling and all others things ending in 'ing'

4. CrystalRoc's fully crystallised Sony Vaio P-series

As if the teeny, tiny Sony Vaio P-series sub-notebook was not expensive enough, now it comes completely covered in jet hematite crystals.

I hesitate to say, this but it does look very "bling" and if I was filthy rich I just might purchase one, you know, for a friend and not me.

The CrystalRoc Vaio P netbook costs £1,500 or €1,690, as converted through XE.com.

wii supreme

A gold-plated, diamond-encrusted Wii for €340k? What happens when Nintendo brings out the Wii 2? Chuck it in the bin?

5. Nintendo Wii Supreme

Officially the worst offender in the category of gadgets for the filthy rich, the Nintendo Wii Supreme is the most expensive games console in the world.

This is because it is coated in more than 2,500 grams of solid 22-carat gold! And if this isn't enough, the buttons on the front of the Wii console are encrusted with 78 diamonds.

Yup, you heard me right, someone who clearly has no clue about the concept of Moore's Law or the heirloom piece has jammed fast-moving technology together with an overload of precious metal and stone.

The net damage is £299,995 or €338,042. Think of all the Nintendo or Apple stock you could buy ... *sob*
