With over 10,000 apps in the iTunes App Store, there are certainly plenty to choose from, but with the festive season upon us, we thought we would go for something fun, entertaining, and above all, free. Featuring Santa and testing our knowledge of all things Christmassy, Quizmas fits the bill.
Quizmas is one of the most popular free apps in the App Store right now, and no wonder- it is something frivolous and cheery to while away the time and play with family and friends as you enjoy a big glass of mulled wine or eggnog.
Years of singing Christmas carols and watching classic seasonal movies will mean you are more than prepared to take on the questions posed by a jolly Santa sitting by a roaring fire.
With questions like 'Which Dr Suess character stole Christmas?', or ones that test your knowledge of Christmas episodes of TV shows such as Friends, you'll whizz through. However, there are a few tricky ones such as the 'Sort it out Santa' category that asks you to put the words of popular carols in order - not so easy on a time limit after a few seasonal brandies have been imbibed.
If this proves to be too taxing or annoying, you can always get the Zen of Snow, another App Store freebie that simply consists of a snowy background with a Christmas tree and log cabin in the foreground. It looks useless, but if you give it a shake, snow will begin to fall and some elevator-type Christmas tune plays in the background - quite relaxing to watch after doing a round of stressful Christmas shopping. That is, if you ignore the fact that the snow shoots upwards when you shake, before it begins to fall in the right direction!
